Waterproof Rating

The waterproofness of the fabric depends on the water column test (based on JIS standards) or the water pressure test per millimeter of water volume. The higher the water pressure the fabric can withstand, the better its waterproof performance.

Our Sailing 100 Series Jacket

  • The fabric can resist water pressure of 15,000mm Schmerber (JIS standard), which is the average pressure exerted by water during rainfall.
  • The jacket's waterproofness was tested for 2 hours in downpours of 60 liters per square meter per hour.

Jacket Waterproof Features

  • High collar
  • Injection-molded zippers resistant to salt oxidation
  • Water-repellent fabric (water droplets slide off the fabric surface)
  • Taped seams
  • Central zipper with zipper flap and drainage placket for enhanced waterproofing

Hood

  • The hood does not fold into the collar; it is fixed.
  • Depth and height adjustable hood.
  • The brim with a headband provides a good level of protection and better fixation.
  • High collar design effectively protects the neck.

Pockets

  • 2 zippered pockets on the front of the jacket for hands or other items.
  • 1 inner pocket on the right chest with a hook-and-loop closure.
Note: Pockets are not waterproof!

Front Zipper Closure

  • The entire jacket uses a zipper with an inner flap for wind and rain protection.
  • A soft fabric wind guard on the collar protects the chin.

Fabric Breathability

  • To confirm fabric breathability, we conducted evaporative resistance and moisture resistance tests (ISO 11092 standard).
  • The lower the fabric's moisture resistance value, the better it can expel moisture generated during exercise, and the higher the fabric's breathability.
  • Our rating:
    • RET < 9 = Extremely breathable
    • 9 < RET < 12 = Very breathable
  • The Sailing 100 jacket has a breathability value of 12.

Water-Repellency Information

  • Fabric is water-repellent when water droplets slide off the surface without penetrating.
  • Your jacket will not absorb water, keeping it lightweight and breathable.
  • Water repellency is achieved by treating the outer layer of the fabric, but these properties can change over time.
  • To restore water repellency, tumble dry the jacket on the lowest temperature setting for 10 minutes.
